I’m not one to write reviews, let alone bad reviews but here we are. I’ve been to this salon twice. I had a great experience the first time around and was excited to come back. The hairdresser, Penelope, talked me through the process, explained hair texture/growth, different products, and listened to my request to trim the dead ends and keep it long. I want to praise Penelope here! If you decide to come here, definitely choose Penelope! Side note - during this cut, a different hairdresser messed up color and cut on a client. The client was hysterically crying but still paid and I heard the hairdresser give her store credit. Although my experience was good the first time, I should have seen this as a red flag. This salon is very inconsistent with their hairdressers and appears to only give store credit for their mistakes. The second and absolute last time I will ever come to this salon, I was utterly unsatisfied with my cut, overcharged, and rudely spoken to when attempting to correct their mistake. I have very curly hair and wanted to keep it long. I just asked to clean up the ends. The hairdresser, Nancy, agreed to an inch. While Nancy was cutting my hair (dry!) she was also interacting with other customers and answering the phones. Which I get it! It was a busy day and the multitasking didn’t bother me. But she kept cutting and cutting when she would return her attention to me. I think she was forgetting which parts she cut/didn’t cut yet. She even combed over my nose a few times. The whole cut felt unorganized, sloppy, and careless. Although I was unhappy about the cut (she cut over 5 inches), I tipped well and didn't complain. Last time, my cut was $70. This time....$128. I was shocked and asked multiple times if this was correct. I mentioned the back to school special and Nancy took off $20. So, the total was $108 for a haircut. The credit card machine was broken so Nancy said she will call me once it is fixed to figure out payment. She called when I was on my way home and said the price was $208. I had to ask/correct her and then said "for just a haircut, right??" Then she said $128 and I had to remind her of the discount. So now it's $108 with the discount. Naturally, I complained to my friends and they agreed the price was high for a haircut and this interaction was weird and sketchy. I called the salon and asked for the price of a haircut and the person on the line said $70. I mentioned I was just there and was overcharged but already paid it. The person on the other line was surprised and very apologetic and said she will tell the manager and have her give me a call. Nancy gives me a call. After multiple phone calls and fighting me on the price, Nancy finally admitted to her mistake and said the price is $70 and that she could only give me store credit and not a refund. She wouldn't add the discount even though it was applied before. She mentioned adding more store credit for her mistake instead. I said not to bother with the store credit because I would not be returning. I mentioned calling my credit card company to dispute the charge and that I would pay what I truly owe. She was very nasty and hung up on me while I was still speaking. I strongly recommend not coming to this salon and if you do - make sure you do your research on which hairdresser you are getting/review their work, call in advance for pricing, and make sure you leave with a receipt. Unfortunately, I did not get a receipt and cannot dispute the charge so I tipped and grossly overpaid for a shitty haircut and infuriating experience. Do not recommend.
